Natalie Heynsbergh

Dr Heynsbergh is an early career researcher with a Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) and PhD awarded in 2019. Her PhD investigated the feasibility, usability and acceptability of a smartphone app for informal carers providing support to someone with colorectal cancer. Ongoing projects from her PhD include leading a program of work assessing how technology solutions can be adapted for carers of people with a variety of types of cancer. Dr Heynsbergh is currently working as a research fellow at Deakin University as the project manager on a randomised clinical trial of an online mindfulness program for people with cancer. 

Dr Heynsbergh is working across several projects including: collaborations with the University of Technology Sydney as a result her PhD project informing ongoing focus group sessions with partners of men with prostate cancer to learn about how a smartphone app can be adapted to suit their needs. Two joint collaborative projects with Griffith University and Denmark are exploring: 1) the role of family nursing which has resulted in an international and national conference presentation and a published manuscript, and 2) technology solutions for carers of people with brain cancer.
