Diane Heart

Hello Everyone

My name is Diane Heart, and I am completing my undergraduate degree in Nursing and Science. While completing my degree, I have also undertaken additional professional development with the Australian College of Nursing (ACN) by completing the stage 1 Emerging Leadership Program. As a result, I have developed my leadership skills and worked collaboratively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

I currently work as a PCA at WACHS Bunbury Regional hospital WA, which is an excellent opportunity for me to learn by observing and becoming familiar with the acute care environment. Previously I worked in the community as a palliative career. During this time, I developed my communication skills and understanding of patient-centred care to deliver a quality rememberable experience to the family and patient at the end of life.

My interests are writing for publication on emerging nurse topics and research new patient care options. So far, I have published works with the ACN Hive magazine and online NurseClicks forum. In the future, I hope to research and write more on cancer-related topics to bring awareness to new patient cancer treatment options. We are all affected by cancer, from the person receiving a diagnosis to family members supporting those undergoing treatment. I hope that writing for magazines will offer support and comfort to those in the cancer journey. In addition, my research for scientific journal publications will provide a comparative study for future development in developing systems and procedures for cancer patients undergoing treatment.

I am a very passionate individual keen to learn and develop my skills in the very honourable profession of nursing.
